A simple method used to diagnose and treat ailments in pets.
Bloodwork can be recommended in a few scenarios (before surgery, to confirm a potential diagnosis, etc.). Before your pet undergoes their bloodwork, we will thoroughly review the procedure with you, including any preparations (like fasting) your pet will need to follow. If you have questions about bloodwork, please call us at 604-427-2744.
Whenever your pet needs bloodwork, we take a blood sample and run a series of tests in our in-house laboratory. Tests like a complete blood count (CBC) and blood chemical analysis provide insights into your pet’s overall health. Bloodwork isn’t only recommended when we suspect your pet could have an underlying health issue. With the help of bloodwork, we can diagnose and create treatment plans for conditions like:
Routine bloodwork keeps us up-to-date with changes in your pet’s health. In the early stages of some health conditions, your pet could be asymptomatic. Bloodwork allows us to better understand how your pet’s internal organs and systems are working in a less invasive manner than surgery. Pets should have bloodwork done at least once per year during their wellness exam unless they have health issues that require more frequent testing. Depending on the bloodwork results, we can create treatment plans that address your pet’s health conditions.
